- Open Streets / Family Fit Day event, 2014 June 14, a loop of streets around BREC City-Brooks Park and the lakes were closed to motor vehicles in order to open them to recreation. Throughout the day there were runs, walks (for people and pets), and bike rides. Organizations also offered fitness classes, healthy cooking demonstrations, water sports, bike safety classes, and much more. Healthy BR provided additional restrooms, drinking water, giveaways, and maps. There are plans to repeat this event 2015, though earlier in the year and with more attention paid to street closures.
